Chess Master · Terms of Service · Effective July 18, 2026 · Last updated July 18, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Chess Master mobile application for iOS and Android (the "App") and related online services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Chess Master ("we", "us", or "our").

By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Chess Master. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the Service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.

2. Accounts

You may use the Service with a guest account or by signing in with Google or Apple, where available. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account and for keeping your device secure.

  • You must provide accurate information and keep your account details up to date where applicable.
  • Usernames must not impersonate others or include offensive, misleading, or unlawful content.
  • Each account may change its username only once. We may reject or revoke usernames that violate these Terms.
  • You may sign out at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. The Service

Chess Master provides online chess gameplay, including:

  • Live player-versus-player matchmaking
  • Games against computer opponents, including when no human opponent is available within a reasonable time
  • Server-validated move rules and game state
  • Ratings and basic profile information visible to other players

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, including features, matchmaking rules, or availability by region or device.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use cheats, engines, bots, scripts, or other unauthorized assistance during human-versus-human games
  • Exploit bugs, interfere with servers or networks, or attempt unauthorized access to accounts or systems
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other players
  • Use the Service for unlawful purposes or in violation of applicable laws
  • Reverse engineer, copy, or resell the Service except as permitted by law
  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with other users or Chess Master

We may investigate violations and take action including warnings, rating adjustments, match restrictions, or account termination.

5. Gameplay and ratings

Game outcomes, move legality, and ratings are determined by our servers and game rules. Ratings are provided for matchmaking and entertainment and are not official chess federation ratings.

Disconnections, timeouts, resignations, and server issues may affect game results. We are not responsible for losses caused by network conditions on your device or internet connection.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, and content (excluding user-generated usernames and gameplay data), is owned by Chess Master or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial entertainment in accordance with these Terms.

7. Third-party services

Sign-in with Google or Apple is subject to those providers' terms and privacy policies. The Service may rely on third-party infrastructure to operate. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our reasonable control.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CHESS MASTER AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, GOODWILL, OR RATINGS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $10.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

10. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Chess Master and its operators from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us, or if we discontinue the Service.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnity.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be communicated in the App or on this website. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where Chess Master is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
